Mission Statement.

The Adaptive Golf Program’s mission is to provide a great outdoor golf experience for people with all types and levels of disability and to promote independence through individual participation. Building strong relationships between participants and volunteers is a fundamental piece of our program.

Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and educational experience for our golfers. Golf is a game for everyone, whether you are disabled or not. It combines mental and physical skills together with social interaction to empower each individual. Through the sport of golf, we can improve confidence, coordination, independence, and social skills. We started this program with the intent to improve the lives of people in our community.

One of our goals, is to keep our program free of charge to all golfers, which is made possible through community support and individual donations.

Our solo rider golf cart changes the game …

The Adaptive Golf Program, a Colorado Non-Profit Corporation (AGP), in association with Hillcrest Golf Club, is pleased to make available the Solo Rider Golf Cart to the mobility-impaired community of golfers in Durango, Colorado.

Brenden’s Story

“I was medically retried from the Navy with 100% disability due to severe brain atrophy. This disorder has left me unable to walk or stand without major support.

I was an F-18 Fighter Pilot and was used to functioning at a high level. I also was on my college golf team and performed extremely well. Since being overcome with this conditions, I was looking for outdoor activities that could provide exercise and revitalize my interest in sports — especially golf.

When I learned of the Adaptive Golf Program at Hillcrest, I immediately went to check out their new adaptive Solo Rider golf cart. I was very pleased to discover that I could use the cart to golf even with my condition. It opened up a whole new world for me as I’m now able to get outdoors and participate in a sport I love. I’m extremely grate fun to Andy and all the staff at Hillcrest for providing me this wonderful opportunity.”
